Wound healing is harder for some patients than others. These are the groups we see most.
People living with diabetes
Diabetes affects circulation, sensation and immune response all at once, which is why a small foot wound can become a serious one before it is noticed. Most of our published services — diabetes management, diabetic ulcer care, diabetic foot ulcer care, debridement, skin grafts and specialized dressings — exist for this group.
Patients with chronic or non-healing wounds
A wound that has stalled rather than closed needs a different approach from a fresh one. We treat wounds that have resisted standard care, including those where an underlying circulation or pressure problem is holding healing back.
Seniors and patients with limited mobility
Reduced mobility concentrates pressure on the same areas of skin, and older skin is thinner and slower to repair. Sacral pressure wounds are the most common result and among the most preventable if caught early.
Nursing home and long-term care residents
Residents in long-term care are at high risk of pressure ulcers, and wound management has to work within an existing care routine and an existing care team. We provide wound management for elderly and long-term care patients.
Post-surgical patients
Most surgical wounds close without incident. When one does not — when it opens, drains longer than expected or shows signs of infection — it needs specialist attention rather than more time.
Patients considering hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not accessible or appropriate for everyone. We provide both hyperbaric medicine and alternative approaches for improving healing without a traditional chamber.
