When to have a wound looked at

A wound that has not clearly improved after two to four weeks of ordinary care is generally worth having assessed. So is any wound on the foot of someone with diabetes, any wound with spreading redness, increasing pain, new odour or fever, and any pressure wound that has broken the skin. Early assessment is consistently easier than late.

What does Las Vegas Wound Care Management treat?

We treat diabetic ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, chronic wounds, non-healing wounds, sacral pressure wounds and pressure ulcers in long-term care residents. We also provide diabetes management, skin grafts, ulcer debridement, specialized diabetic dressings, hyperbaric medicine and alternatives to hyperbaric oxygen treatment.

When should a wound be seen by a wound care specialist?

A wound that has not clearly improved after two to four weeks of ordinary care is worth having assessed. What is the difference between chronic wound care and care for non-healing wounds?

They overlap heavily. Chronic wound care generally refers to the ongoing management of a wound that has persisted; care for non-healing wounds refers to treating wounds that have specifically resisted standard treatment. We provide both, and in practice the same patient is often described by either term.

Do you offer alternatives to hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

Yes. We provide both wound care and hyperbaric medicine, and alternatives to hyperbaric oxygen treatment for patients for whom a traditional chamber is not suitable or available.
